Kauri planted for first Life Members

The Kauri, Agathis australis, is a gift from HSIS to the Menzies, the Society’s first Life Members.
Barry & Lynn chose a Kauri, to be planted in the Area of the Reserve now called the Traveller’s Trees area.

The tree was given a good start to it’s new life with the addition of compost, sheep pellets and slow release fertiliser.

It celebrates the outstanding service and hard work given to the Reserve by Barry and Lynn since the Society’s inception in 2003.
The planting was blessed by John Rainbow with the words:

Kia toa, Kia kaha, Kia manawanui : Be bold, Be strong, With the heart of a Warrior.
