First Workday 2014 this Saturday

This Saturday is our first scheduled work day for the new year.

Depending on the number of attendees (and we know that several of our key committee  members are not available) we will look at clearing from the main bridge (the Grotto) and along the main track to the Ynys Fraser walkway, removing any debris that is trapped on the weir, this is best done by getting a bit wet and using hands – Stephen Parker will be best to lead this part of the day – won’t take long.

Some clearance in the stream at the main spring would be nice, but here again depending on numbers – might be a March job, although we are already planning March work to start  to stockpile rubbish up by the main spring in readiness for mulching.
We have applied for and been granted funds to hire a mulcher 4 times a year . Diana will do some spraying if the weather is OK.
Lets start with a relatively easyish day, so bring your favourite gardening tool,  gloves, hat, drink.
Plus note
NEW STARTING TIME 9.00am, lets get moving before it gets too hot in the day..

As usual, bring your own lunch, we will have on site or if the weather doesn’t look promising during the morning we can come back to our “other” venue at Kaska Rd, we will decide on this during the morning.

Hope to see you there, Lorraine will be in charge on Sat in Kerry’s absence, with Stephen, Diana and myself close behind. Please feel free to ring me on sat morning 3322474 if you are uncertain on the morning.

Finally, we wish speedy recovery to Sally for her foot operation which she had to have re-done yesterday and Jerry with his hip operation two weeks ago. If they are lucky they might both be allowed to come out  for lunch on Saturday, and we look forward to having them back on the working team again in the not too distant future.

Thank you all for your continued support as always.
Cherry Douglas

NOTE from Webmaster:
Sorry I can’t come along with my camera anymore since my remigration to The Netherlands.
To anyone that takes photos from now on: Please email them to me, preferably good sized and with little stories to accompany, so I can continue publishing them.
