Koaro Monitoring Programme

These is a few lines take from one of Kristina Thompson Emails regarding the on going monitoring of the Koaro at Hamurana Spring:
Kia Ora
The Kaikaitahuna Koaro Monitoring Group, consisting of members of Ngati Rangiwewehi and Te Arawa Lakes Trust did the monitoring of the Koaro population at Kaikaitahuna (Hamurana Springs) on the 18th and 19th of February.
Happy to report our koaro population at Kaikaitahuna (Hamurana) Springs is looking good.  Rikihana and his Kaikaitahuna Koaro Monitoring Team (Gina, Hera and Leilanie), with the support of Mithuna (DOC Opotiki), Jody Richardson (volunteer trainer), Caraline and myself were out for those two days monitoring our koaro population above the trout barrier. We caught 30 Koaro!

Thank you to Rikihana, Gina, Leilanie, Hera, Jody and Mithuna,
