Workday 22nd February 2014

Kia Ora Korua and welcome to the first of our workdays for 2014.
Unfortunately it was cancelled due to the inclement weather, although a few die hard members decided to brave the weather and continue!
While Stephen and Jamie (Jamie Douglas stepped in for me) trooped off in search for the elusive “Rattus norvegicus” and other rodent like critters to do the trapping, Lyn & Barry Menzie, Cherry Douglas and myself decided to do a few hours toil and cleared the garden just over the main bridge and cleared the path up to the Ynys Fraser walkway.  No heavy activities where undertaken due to Health & Safety concerns.

Thankfully it was not too unpleasant working in the constant drizzle as the humidity was quite high and drizzle was just enough to cool us down.  We started to pack up our gear by 11am and by this time we were all soaked, but luckily forethought by Stephen and myself we had a change of clothes.
Everyone knows Stephen disposition for getting into water and getting wet so dry clothes are now a part of our monthly workday gear.  And sanctuary was close at hand with a wonderful shared lunch and a glass of wine at the Douglas Castle where we were cheerfully joined by our two partially disabled members sporting designer crutches, Jerry Douglas and Sally French.

Our next workday is scheduled for 30th March so look forward to seeing you then.

Nga mihi,
Lorraine Parker,
Vice President
