The Society’s keen volunteers met at the Springs for the last work day of the year, last Sat. Dec. 3rd. 2011. While the weather was far from ideal, there was a fantastic turnout of willing helpers, who boxed on in the rain.
Some helped install 2 beautiful tables, crafted from the Redwood timber allocated to the Society, others went to work on a general clean up of the main track which looked just great, a Pohutukawa donated as part of the Traveller’s Trees scheme was planted up by the main spring.
And finally the time was used to do a complete check of the Predator Traps, with 2 more rats in varying degrees of decay(!) being collected.
An even larger group then turned up for the year end lunch at the Douglas’s. As everyone brought a plate to go with the Ham, there was a huge and delicious array of food, a feast even, followed by an amazing range of succulent desserts. Add to that the great Mulled Wine prepared by our resident expert Clarice, plus the BYO drinks, and a good time was had by all.
It was an ideal opportunity to take a group photo as well.
The President said some words of thanks to all the volunteers, who have put in another year of hard work in the Reserve.
